WBUT new paper style: take qpapers home

Wbut is now allowing you to carry question papers home after exams. You have to give answers on a seperate booklet, and take the q booklet home. I don’t see anything good about it though. Except some extra paper, you seriously hope you never have to use again. Plus you have to write down the MCQ options which could lead to error in checking by the examiner. He might read them in order(1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10) and you might have answered in (2 4 5 6 7 8 9 …) Common Errors, considering the trained manpower WBUT gets. So that apart, I dun knw if ti will help students or WBUT.
Practical Exam dates advanced.

See earlier I wrote that exam dates had been postponed. The college now decided that instead of having the pracs after the exams, it’d be realy fun to have them all of suddent on the 7th dec when no one is ready, everyone needs to study for the biggie, and no one wants to come. So that means less time to study, which I do very little of anyways. haha so much fun. Plus roam around for getting the file complete. More time wasted. What a pain in the ass this college is
Exams postponed

It seems our exams have been postponed to 14th December. Well, postponed is the wrong term since WBUT never really gave us a date. We just somehow assumed it was 8 of December. From what I read on the site, exams for MBA start on 8 Dec and all other streams on 14 Dec. All other streams probably means us. This would be generally good news unless the college decides to hold practical exams before the exams instead of after, which would be trouble. Ciao
Hows My Prep?

Well pretty bad to be frank. I have only prepared a chapter in analog circuits, the first exam. Zero Preparation in most of the rest. And Oh yeah, I have the wrong book for EM theory
. How? Well long story short I took my cousin’s EM theory book, who is in electrical and didn’t notice until yeterday that it had EE written over it. The old matrix books have this great problem. Black text over a red background. Not very visible. So what to do? I don’t know what to do really. I’ll try studying from another book, let’s see if that’ll help. Ofcourse, Matrix is pretty much the best book to study from. Not because it is any good, but if you sit in the day before the exam, you’re not left with much of a choice are you?

BITSAT 2008 is a three hour paper.The test consists of four parts:
Part I : Physics (40 Questions)
Part II : Chemistry (40 Questions)
Part III : (a) English Proficiency(15 Questions) and (b) Logical Reasoning (10 Questions)
Part IV : Mathematics OR Biology (45 Questions)
Thus there will be 150 questions in total and each correct answer fetches 3 marks, while each incorrect answer has a penalty of 1 mark. No marks are awarded for not attempted questions.
Syllabus for BITSAT is more or less same as that for the IITs, though there are some changes

Downloadiong the Hall tickets with instructions : 20th March – 31st March 2008
Test dates : 9th May – 12th June 2008
Apply for admission(provided you pass the test): 20th May – 30th June 2008
Releas of admit list and wait list : 1st July 2008

Okay a few days into college. I am enjoying myself a little bit, though not as much as I would, had I been in Manipal, say. Have made a few friends too here. Bawesh, being one of them. I will ost in more once I get a camera. The camera business hasn’t been going so good after I lost my phone. Anways. I have been ragged, I confess. I was asked to dance, sing,kill invisible mosquitos and measure the area of a room with matchstick, propose to a girl, etc. It will all be better once my carnality is satisfied. Hah. JIS isn’t so bad, after all. In the meantime, there are a few names I want to remember in case I forget:
Ipshita Bose: she was in class 7th made a great partner.
Sneha Mohan: from 7th(or 6th) till tenth. She was a good friend too.
Akash Devgan: in class 7th, a good friend again
Geetanjali Sati: in tenth and before. another sweet girl
West Bengal Again!

Okay here’s the deal. I am going over to West Bengal again for counseling. Its on 10th at slater hall. Let’s hope, again, that I get a good college. For those visiting my journal for the first time, I had a rank 7345 in WBJEE so I thought I’d knock a blow, if you understand my humor. Wish me good luck everyone and financial consideration is solicited 
MY AIEEE RANK

So I have a rank of 79235 in AIEEE with a score of 99. I was expecting much higher a rank as such. I expected a score of 125 which would get me a 50000+ rank, but never mind. That leaves me with only two options ahead of me: WBJEE(7345) and MANIPAL(2974). Let’s hope I get an ECE at MANIPAL. As for WBJEE I will certainly get an ECE somewhere(some college) but will it be a good one. For now, I can forget Jadavpur, Shibpur and Kalyani. My goal is to try for TEchnoIndia, Heritage or something….
I will be counselled on the 10th of JULY 2007 for WBJEE and on 26 June for Manipal. Wish me good luck
WBJEE result out
May 28th
My WBJEE result is out. I have secured a rank of 7345 in WBJEE. Grammy says that JADAVPUR OR SHIBPUR don’t stand a very high chance as such. There is a certain inconsistency of views here. It seems that only Jadavpur and Shibpur have any ranking anywhere in the top 100 colleges of India. No other college subscribing under WBJEE has any standing as such. This is definitely strange, considering that people here have quite a high opinion of WBJEE. Well that is a secondary concern as of now. We have to wait and find out more details about it before we can arrive at a conclusion
